Former COO of Applebee’s Appointed as New President of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has announced that former COO of Applebee’s, Sanjiv Razdan, will be the company’s new president of the Americas and India. The company is one of the world’s leading roasters and retailers of specialty tea and coffee.

Razdan will provide the chain with 30 years of chain-restaurant industry experience. Previous brands he has worked with include Sweetgreen and Yum Brands. Currently, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf chain are facing a critical growth period. Therefore, Razdan’s focus will be primarily on the high growth potential markets of the US and India. These represent two of the largest markets for the Southern California-based brand.

“The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf brand is globally iconic and its mission of helping people find their perfect flavor has enormous untapped potential,” said Razdan. “I’m excited to join this great brand and work closely with the new ownership as we scale and continue to introduce The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf brand to new markets, and in the process help advance Jollibee Foods Corp’s goal of becoming one of the top five restaurant groups in the world.”

Over the past couple of years, the company has witnessed significant growth across its ecommerce business. This was primarily due to an increase in online shopping during the Covid-19 pandemic last year. Prior to this, the company was known for popularizing frozen blended coffee drinks. The founder’s ambition was to introduce the finest roast and ground coffees in the world. By doing so, they would help each coffee lover find their perfect flavour.

Razdan’s experience and love of coffee is believed to help drive the company further and expand their growth potential. He is passionate about the company. “This brand has amazing quality credentials in terms of the way we source our coffee and get it to consumers,” said Razdan.
