Sony Pictures has finally revealed the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home, the third entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
No Way Home takes place after the last movie’s cliffhanger ending where Spider-Man was revealed as Peter Parker to the whole world and framed for Mysterio’s murder. In an attempt to undo this, Doctor Strange agrees to help Peter Parker erase the incident from everyone’s memories. Of course, their plans go awry leading to the events of No Way Home and the multiverse.
The movie features the same main characters from the previous films with Tom Holland reprising his role as Peter Parker, Zendaya as MJ, and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds.
The teaser trailer also reveals the return of iconic villains from previous Spider-Man films in Sony’s Cinematic Universe. First and foremost, Alfred Molina is showcased as Doctor Octopus who delivers the chilling line: “Hello Peter” which has taken the internet by storm.
In addition, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin was also teased in a more subtle manner. The villain’s pumpkin bombs are shown in the trailer and his laugh can be heard in the background. Finally, a yellow spark of electricity can be seen briefly which could hint at Jamie Foxx’s return as Electro with an all-new character design.
Some rumors suggest that former Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are also set to make their return, with the film exploring alternative realities and the multiverse. However, this information hasn’t been confirmed as of yet so it should be taken with a grain of salt until Sony or Marvel make an official announcement. You can check out the full trailer here.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently set to release in theaters on December 17.
